Dermaplaning Facial

Avoid excessive sun exposure in the week leading up to your dermaplaning facial treatment.

Limit sun exposure and ensure you are wearing a SPF 30+ at minimum post treatment.

Avoid exercise and swimming  for 24 hrs post treatment.

A dermaplaning facial temporarily removes the entire layer of facial hair known as vellus hair, the fine hairs that may be more obvious if naturally dark. This hair can also make it harder to apply makeup smoothly and evenly regardless of hair colour. Dermaplaning does not permanently remove hair and over time the vellus hair will grow back.

However, as the dermaplaning procedure involves cutting the vellus hair at the mid-way point by scraping the surgical blade across the skin, at no point during the treatment will the hair follicles/roots be impacted. This is why it is not scientifically possible for the hair to grow back thicker or darker after this procedure however it is common to feel a slight stubble as your hair starts to grow back in after the treatment. This does not mean that your hair is thicker or changed texture, it is because of the way each hair has been cut but it will have the same texture and colour and grow at the same rate as before your dermaplaning treatment. 

The best way to maintain the results is to first stay on top of a dermaplaning facial treatment plan, regular dermaplaning facials will not only mitigate any concerns about the vellus hair, but also provide a deep exfoliation that can even skin tone, limit congestion and allow for deeper product penetration. It is also important to maintain an appropriate skin care regime between treatments to ensure you are protecting your skin as the removal of the dead skin build up can lead to your skin barrier becoming more vulnerable and susceptible to the sun.
