Ok, so let’s talk Vitamin C. Is it really worth all the hype?
No doubt you have heard advertisements or even been recommended a Vitamin C serum for you skin but why?
Firstly what is it?
Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals, meaning it aids in the natural regeneration process of the skin. Now
that probably sounds like a lot of mumbo jumbo but fundamentally it helps your skin repair any damaged cells. Basically any concerns you
have with your complexion can be treated with Vitamin C hence the hero like status of this ingredient and why everyone is talking about it.
How does it help your skin repair?
The highly acidic nature of Vitamin C triggers the skin to heal itself by accelerating the production of collagen and elastin.
Now here are some really cool things Vitamin C can do for a few specific common concerns and why.
Pigmentation: Vitamin C contains a property that
inhibits your skin's melanin production, which is what causes skin discoloration like dark spots and hyperpigmentation. Over time with
regular use your skin will become lighter and brighter!
Hydration: Vitamin C reduces transepidermal water
loss. This helps ensure the skin can retain its moisture which is why it is so powerful for dehydrated and compromised skin.
Acne: Vitamin C is anti inflammatory which may help reduce redness and the inflammation associated with acne.
Complete Skin and Beauty salons stock a range of Vitamin C serums formulated with a high active potency. Vitamin C is safe to use for most skins, however it is a very active ingredient so be sure to talk to your CSB skin therapist to find the best Vitamin C product, and how to incorporate it into your skin care routine that will benefit you.
